On Saturday, Will and I headed off to Walmart and came back with a new T-Ball set and a whoopee cushion. The whoopee cushion popped within the first 5 minutes and Ben starting eating what was left of it, so we threw it away. The T-Ball set however was a real hit.

With children, one thing that always makes me nervous is silence. My parental sonar relies heavily on one of them yelling or crying to know where they are in the house. This morning i was in the kitchen and didn't hear the boys so i went looking around only to discover them both behind the bed, reading. Ben has never shown an interest in books. He was simply mimicking Will. This reminds me of my entire childhood in which Andrew, my older brother, would routinely tell me to stop copying him. As you see here, it's simply engrained in "little brother" dna.

One thing that some new parents rationalize buying is a new digital slr camera. One thing they completely overlook is the lens! A good place to start is a 50mm 1.8. You can pick one up on ebay for as low as 50 bucks (used).

Two things about this lens will help you out. The first is that it allows you to take pictures inside without a flash. The second is that it allows you to get a really shallow depth of field which can make for great portraits.

Planet Earth

Sometimes before bed we watch Planet Earth. From the moment we pop in the DVD William is in a glued to the tv but every now and again he will break his trance, look at me with big eyes and say "He's gonna eat em!". He is usually right.
