Will's First Christmas Tree

Last year at this time we were trudging around in the snow at dusk looking for the perfect christmas tree to cut down. As I surveyed the christmas trees tonight in my t-shirt with Tim Mcgraw music playing in the backround couldn't help but appreciate what an awesome experience we had in Colorado. I look forward to what is next for the Artemenko clan but I am really thankful for the friends and the memories that we made there.

Meeting Maggie

Here she is with Michael, her dad.

New Office

Allen set me up with some great office space at the dealership today in the Hummer building.

2000 miles later...

Were back in North Carolina. Its 75 degrees and this is William's first trip to the beach! He was drooling and a bunch of bubbles came out of his mouth which I think means that he liked it.

My first post since William's birth! These are some pictures I have taken of Will over this past week, isn't he a cutie!

Hey there!

Awake time after breakfast.

A full tummy makes me sleepy!

Instead of exercise, tummy time often puts Will to sleep, he's very ready for his nap.

William in his pack'n play.

Nap time with Daddy, we sure did miss him when he was in Chicago!

William finally fits in his stroller without the infant carrier. Here he is ready to go for a walk that lasted about 5 minutes, the wind was blowing so hard I had to run against it just to get home! Will looks really happy here :)

Notice anything different? No more tubes! We recieved a call from the doctor on friday after my last day of work at Keystone. I will definately miss working on the mountain and the people that I worked with but I don't think I will miss doing payroll.

This was a great message.

Here is a shot from our porch. It snowed yesterday.

This is really exciting. Here is a website that my friend Erin created for the builder in Breckenridge that I have been taking photographs for.

Sigh of Relief

Last Wednesday as I was packing up our little apartment for our move, the phone rang. It was our doctor. She was calling in regard to some blood tests that had been conducted at the hospital when William was born. She said that one of the screenings came back positive for a condition that I still can't spell. I asked as many questions as I could and I know that it must have sounded awful to Katie who was nursing Will in the other room. She began to cry. All she must have heard was "is it treatable?... Really?... oh.. So he would have to be on steroids for the rest of his life?” The conversation left me completely untied, insecure and in the dark. The thought of starting my 1-week-old son on steroids was disheartening to say the least. Katie and I sat on this news for the past couple days while we moved from our apartment back into the Flygs where we will spend the winter.

It wasn't until tonight at dinner that the phone rang once more. Our doctor had spoken to the endocrinologist at the children's hospital in Denver. She was not concerned and said that no additional screening needed to be done. We could call her in the morning to ask her any questions but after talking with her we could forget about all of this, stop worrying and get busy loving our little boy.

"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,

to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,

and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning,

and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor."

Mom holding Will

One of my favorite memories was when I had the chance to tell my parents last February that Katie and I were expecting. Today topped that. Bringing William down the stairs and handing him to my mom was pretty awesome.

11 Days Old!

This is how old William is and also How old I am as a dad. Parenthood is a funny thing. It is almost as if my capacity for joy, excitement, fear and worry have all been heightened simultaneously. Seeing him for the first time brought happy tears and seeing him stuggle made me sick to my stomach. It is hard to imagine loving anything more than my wife and son, my family.

First Family Photo!

Today we went for a walk on lake dillon. photographer - jodie rippy :)

Eventful Day

Well Today was full of firsts. We went for our first walk with Will. Will peed on his face for the first time and Will went to the emergency room for the first time. Everything is fine. He was spit up a couple times and started to choke and gag on his own mucous. It turns out that the oxygen tube that he is getting in his nose is causing his nostrils to become dry and irritated. This causes mucous production and the little guy doesn't quite know how to cough yet so it was more of a scare for us than anything. Everything is good with him. We are home now and ready to get some rest.
